How to Change Your Delivery Address on AliExpress (Before and After You Pay)

Changing an AliExpress delivery address depends on your order status. What works before you pay, after you pay, and once the parcel has shipped.

Published · 6 min read

You can change your AliExpress delivery address as often as you like until you pay. After that, the address stops being yours to edit in any way we could confirm. Until the label is printed, the seller holds it. Once the parcel ships, the carrier does. So the fix for a wrong address depends on one thing: the status on your order right now. Open My Orders, read the label on the order card, and go to the matching section below.

Check your order status first

Every AliExpress order moves through the same sequence: Awaiting Payment, Payment Being Verified, Awaiting Shipment, Awaiting Delivery, Finished. Who can change the address shifts at each step.

Order statusWho controls the addressWhat to do
Awaiting PaymentYouCancel it yourself and reorder with the right address
Payment Being VerifiedYou, the seller has not been paidCancel it yourself and reorder
Awaiting ShipmentThe sellerMessage the seller now. Cancel and reorder if they will not help
Awaiting DeliveryThe carrier, if anyoneContact the carrier once the parcel reaches your country
FinishedNobodyThe parcel has been delivered. Talk to the seller about what went wrong

The two statuses that decide most outcomes are Payment Being Verified and Awaiting Shipment. At the first, you don't need anyone's permission. At the second, you need the seller's.

Before you pay: change the delivery address in your address book

The address you ship to comes from your AliExpress address book, which lives apart from any order. You can add, edit or delete entries at any time and pick the right one at checkout.

On desktop, open your account menu and go to "My Shipping Addresses" (some guides call it "Address Book"). In the app, tap the account icon, then settings, then "Shipping and Trace". AliExpress renames menus from time to time, so if the label differs, look for the word "address" under your account settings.

This stage has no deadline and no seller involved. If you have more than one saved address, read the one the checkout page shows before you place the order. It is the only point where fixing it costs nothing.

After you pay: is there a "Change Address" button?

Some guides say a paid order has a "Change Address" or "Modify Address" option inside My Orders. We could not confirm that. The pages that describe it most confidently sit on AliExpress's own domain but carry its disclaimer that the content is "provided by third-party contributors or generated by AI". One invents a personal anecdote. The other is padded with plugs for unrelated products. Neither is evidence either way, so we are not going to tell you the button exists, or that it doesn't.

So open the order and look. If an address option is there, use it, then check that the order details show the new address. If it isn't, don't lose time hunting through menus. Message the seller: every source we trust names that as the route.

Awaiting Shipment: message the seller today

At Awaiting Shipment your payment has cleared and the seller is preparing the parcel. They can still change the address on their side before they print the label. After that, they can't.

Send the message the same day, and make it impossible to misread:

  1. Your order number.
  2. The full corrected address, written out in the same format as the original, not only the part that changed.
  3. A request to confirm in the chat before they ship.

Be ready for a no. The seller is under no obligation to change it, and a refusal is not always laziness. Asking to redirect a parcel after payment is a known fraud pattern, the package redirection scam, so a careful seller has a reason to be wary.

If the seller agrees, keep the chat. It is your only record that you asked in time.

If the seller won't help: cancel and reorder

When the seller refuses or goes quiet, cancel and place the order again with the correct address.

At Payment Being Verified, don't bother with the message. The seller has not been paid yet, so Cancel Order closes the order without anyone's agreement.

At Awaiting Shipment, Cancel Order sends a request instead, and the seller has to approve it. They can't stall forever: the seller has 72 hours to respond, and if they let that run out, AliExpress closes the order automatically and refunds you. The risk is that a seller ships while your request is pending. That kills the cancellation, and the parcel goes to the old address. Our guide to cancelling an AliExpress order walks through each step and where your money sits.

Plan for one cost. A refund can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks to land, depending on how you paid, so for a while you will have paid for both orders.

Already shipped: what is realistically left

Once tracking exists, the seller can't change the address through AliExpress, and AliExpress has no lever of its own either. Your options now run through the carrier or the seller's goodwill, and none of them is guaranteed.

Roughly in order of how often guides cite them as working:

  1. Contact the local carrier once the parcel reaches your country. Find the carrier and tracking number on the order (our tracking guide explains where) and ask about redirection. The type of mistake matters. A wrong street number or flat number is sometimes fixable. A wrong city usually means extra cost and delay, if it can be done at all.
  2. Set up a mail redirect at the old address. If the problem is that you moved, your own postal service may offer forwarding from the old address to the new one. This has nothing to do with AliExpress, and whether it exists depends on your country's postal operator.
  3. Let it bounce, then negotiate. If the parcel can't be delivered and goes back to the seller, ask for a partial refund and reorder with the correct address. This is the last resort, and it depends entirely on the seller being reasonable.

If the parcel is heading to the wrong country, we found no source describing a way to fix that.

Will Buyer Protection still cover you?

Honestly, we don't know, and we couldn't find AliExpress saying either way.

The official Buyer Protection page covers items that don't arrive or are lost in transit within the guaranteed delivery window, items that arrive damaged, and items not as described. It does not say what happens when the buyer supplied the wrong address. Our reading, which is not AliExpress policy: if the seller shipped to exactly the address on your order, it will be hard to argue the parcel was lost through their fault.

So don't count on a dispute to rescue a wrong address. Fix it while the seller can still act, and keep every message where you asked for the change. For dispute windows and the mistakes that void your cover, see our AliExpress Buyer Protection guide.

Picking a seller who will answer

AliScore can't change an address or chase a seller for you. Nothing outside AliExpress can. But notice how much of this article depends on one party: after you pay, your only real route is a seller willing to read a message and act on it in time. Checking the store before you order is the part a tool can speed up.

On a product page, AliScore shows a 0 to 10 score with a plain verdict, from "Safe to buy" down to "Risky". Part of it is a seller trust score built from the store's feedback percentage on a deliberately strict scale plus its follower count. It does not measure how fast a seller replies to messages, and it is a heuristic over public data, not a promise. It is still a quick way to avoid stores that buyers already complain about. The scoring is explained on how it works.
